zmf auteur reddit

I find the Auteur to be quite comfortable, never really having an issue for longs listening sessions. I just prefer to have more variety. If you're after speed and detail however, I think there are better choices. I can ship same-day if it's not too late in the day. I basically got overwhelmed, did not recheck the rules, and adjusted the price based on what I was told was fair. Ships to CONUS only, via UPS Ground with tracking. ZMF Verite C Monkeypod 2,499.99 Our Monkeypod comes from South America, and has a beautiful rich color that we stain a touch darker to bring out the grain and porous nature of the wood. I like the zmf pads more, but the 6xx is definitely lighter. Sometimes there seems to be a mist in the high end somewhere, and sometimes that turns into a hint of epic vast soundscapes and makes the soundstage feel huge. The left adjustment rod also squeaks slightly when you I rotate that cup, but again this can be easily fixed by some wd-40 ( this is recommended fix on zmfs website lol ). The dac is connected to my pc via optical, and I'm using the balanced out of the cavalli. If you want a pad that gives you more treble the Universe pads would be worth trying, they are definitely the most neutral recommended pad on the auteur: https://www.zmfheadphones.com/zmfpads. Customers have the option of adding in a Cherry Salire headphone stand for $80. Automatic headphone equalization from frequency responses - jaakkopasanen/AutoEq We tend to leave them medium or medium easy to move since people tend to not like them too firm. I really enjoy how you compared them to other headphones to us a reference point. Hifiman Susvara, Hifiman HE1000se, Abyss Diana Phi, Sony Z1R, ZMF Auteur, Klipsch HP-3, Focal Clear, Hifiman HE6se, Hifiman HE-500 with Burson Conductor 3X I’m a big fan of the Burson sound. Luckily it feel into my lap but couple inches off and I'd likely be out of $1k headphones just like that. Much etter air and detail while still remaining smooth. I'd love to see zmf use something more similar to the meze empyrean here for the height adjustment. Also included is a ZMF OFC Cable (with the options to upgrade), universe and auteur pads, lifetime warranty and magnesium chassis. The pads I'm using are the perforated Auteur hybrids, so it's lambskin on all sides and suede on the top. But yeah there's definitely room for improvement there, the rods are pretty much the only thing I'd change about the build. overall awesome midrange, that timbre makes acoustic instruments in particular amazing to listen to ( live recordings are so good on these ). You can definitely get that subbass rumble on some tracks, but it never sounds bloated or anything like that. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. Either way, I retract my interest in these - not how we do business here! With perforated lambskin Auteur pads. zmf gang rise up! The Auteur doesn't have the inescapable smoothness of the 6xx in the midrange, but it is definitely more detailed, spacious and again has better timbre. So the mids here, and pretty much along with everything else about the sound, are incredibly natural sounding. Like other ZMF headphones, the Vérité uses hand crafted wooden cups, and like the Auteur, this is a semi-open headphone. The Bass slam is good and delivers a satisfying punch, but the initial attack seems a bit slow to me. While it definitely beats out the 6xx ( as it should for the price ) I find the ether cx to have WAY better clarity and detail across the board. There's tons of room with these pads though, very breathable and my ear never touches the inside of the pad. In comparison to the 6xx, I found the midrange of the Auteur to be more suited towards my preferences. Anything you can see or hear it goes here, see? The stock ZMF OFC cable has taken months of research to find an affordable but capable sound to add to the ZMF’s tonality. The mids ( as well as try rest of the frequency response) definitely has a warm/euphonic tilt to it, partly due to the wood used in the build I'm sure, which gives everything more decay and cup reverb. The first time I picked my headphones from the box the adjustment rods fully extended leaving a scratch in the black paint (the screws were too loose and let the cups slide up/down without much resistance). So weight here isn't a problem for me. The Auteur will give you a much different sound, and be a better contrast to the VO. The down side is definitely that the user may need to make some adjustments for their needs after extended use, but the headphone itself will last and last. They share the same driver I believe, so the feeling of "not fast, but rich and solid" is probably shared because of the driver. I am always intrigued about the ZMFs in particular the Aeolus as an upgrade to my 6xx and Ananda. This is something I'll get into more in the technicalities section. They are also lighter than Auteur. Something I find to a bigger problem is adjustment rods in general, I'm not a huge fan of them. So here is my biggest complaint about the Auteur, which probably won't be an issue for most. I didn't have to bend the headband or anything to get a good fit. Overall these are gorgeous headphones and feel overall very sturdy, I just had a few issues I thought I should mention. The perfect timbre, realism, and super agreeable frequency response are all hard to beat. Those are all pretty minor and can be fixed easily, but something I do experience and thought I'd mention it here. But I think the two headphones are going for entirely different things. The adjustment rods also tend to start to unscrew from the cup gimbal after you rotate the cups from normal use, and I know zmf uses threadlocker to keep these in place so it probably just needs a fresh application of that. Clamp force on the Auteur is perfect for me, while the 6xx might clamp a bit hard. Shown in pics. Placement of instruments sounds perfect, and images sound HUGE on the Auteur, very lifelike which is pretty in line with how I'd describe this headphone. They tend to move when you don't want them to, I found very often they would move from my desired height whenever I pick them up/take them off as whenever tension is taken off the headband, they'll slide around like crazy. Take the ZMF Verite, disguise the fancy wood cups and give the headphone a Chi-Fi sounding name and send it to a ''reviewer'' and tell them it costs $299. So the soundstage here is quite good, wider than most headphones I've heard. It's all so contradictory, it's an intriguing headphone, and I keep coming back to it. The Auteur is the most neutral ZMF in the lineup, and has a very very unique presentation. Thanks for the detailed comments man! I wish zmf pads in general were a tad more cushiony, the foam is a bit stiff. Vocals sound so real it's scary sometimes haha. Vs. the 6xx, I give the treble for the Auteur the win here, as it definitely does trump the 6xx in detail, separation, and dynamics. Purchased during ZMF November but not built until January 13th (just shy of 2 months ago). The part that attaches to the adjustment rods from the headband tends to leave behind what looks like black grease or something each time you change the adjustment, which I found a bit odd, but it's not a big deal to just wipe that off. Couple days later the right cup fell off because it only takes one or two turns for the rod to separate from the gimbals. Clamp force is also easier to adjust in the Auteur via headband bending. Pads are Auteur perf lambskin (installed) and Eikon perf lambskin. I love my auteurs, whenever I listen to anything not EDM they are my goto. Overall, I never really found myself wishing the Auteur had more bass, it's pretty much the least of my concerns about the sound. Overall I do quite enjoy the Auteur, it's got a great and beautiful build, overwhelmingly natural and realistic sound, and great comfort. Also includes original paperwork, tools, Seahorse case, everything you see in the pictures. The bass on the 6xx rolls off pretty hard, and that is not the case with the auteur.
